Nykredit

New Nykredit headquarters focuses on recycling and upcycling

Nykredit has brought together over 2,000 employees from three locations into a new, modern headquarters in Nordhavn, Copenhagen. HOLMRIS B8 has managed everything related to furniture during this process — from relocation, sales, and donations to upcycling of old furniture and delivering new pieces, as well as overseeing the entire project.

Situated uniquely on the waterfront in Copenhagen’s new district of Svanemølleholm, Nykredit’s new headquarters is designed by PLH Architects and welcomes employees and guests with an abundance of light, superb acoustics, and modern solutions.

Customized solutions for Nykredit

Nykredit’s vision for a flexible, activity-based workspace in a future-proof and socially responsible headquarters has been fulfilled. Over the course of two years, HOLMRIS B8 and Nykredit have closely collaborated on many aspects of the office’s interior design.

Based on Nykredit’s Workplace Concept and Nykredit’s desire for varied typologies and design choices with color themes throughout the building, HOLMRIS B8, in collaboration with VADA Design, has been responsible for merging and implementing the new headquarters’ interior concept, using existing furniture from the previous locations.

In select areas of the building, small design gems catch the eye. Particular emphasis has been placed on making the interior design appear interesting and inviting to those passing by outside.

The interior group has also designed flexible and mobile custom products and solutions to meet the interior concept’s demand for high flexibility in the design.

Reuse and Creativity at the Forefront

Another key element of the project has been integrating recycling and upcycling into the creative process, resulting in smart and sustainable solutions. In total, 31% of the furniture has been reused from the three former addresses.

For example, we upgraded 1,250 of Nykredit’s existing work desks with new tabletops made from the residual material Really, which in this case is circularly produced from old jeans and other leftover textiles.

HOLMRIS B8 Business Service has dismantled, moved, cleaned, and reassembled items, including:

  • 80 phone/meeting pods
  • 400 lockers
  • 250 divider shelves
  • Approximately 600 meeting/office/bar and canteen chairs
  • 847 desk dividers

We have also handled over 600 pieces of art from the three previous addresses, which have been beautifully given new life in the new building.

After the move from the three former Nykredit locations, HOLMRIS B8 cleared the sites and managed the sale, donation, and environmentally responsible disposal of the remaining furniture.
