Exclusive Boutique Hotel inspired by gemstones
A new five-star boutique hotel – Sapphire House Antwerp – in Belgium is now welcoming guests into its world of luxury and comfort, heritage features, famous artworks and bespoke design. The new 139-room hotel, part of Mariott’s Autograph Collection, also boasts several restaurants and conferencing spaces.
Belgian HUGO Interieurvormgeving was responsible for the hotel’s interior design concept, while HOLMRIS B8 supplied its loose furniture along with lighting, curtaining and carpeting. In addition, we commissioned bespoke leather-upholstered bed headboards, armchairs, pouffes and sideboards along with closets and minibars in walnut wood, brass and marble.
Sensuous appeal and comfort
The hotel exterior and interior celebrate the grand heritage of Antwerp’s golden age from the 1500s onwards, when the city became a hub for the global gemstone trade. The Neogothic building dates back to the 1600s when it was known as Den Grooten Robijn – The Great Ruby – as evoked by the hotel’s interior design inspired by exclusive precious stones and the building’s heritage colors.
Each room is decorated and furnished in one of four exquisite colors: ruby red, sapphire blue, emerald green and a soft beige inspired by sparkling diamonds – for the sensuous appeal of rich color and tactile materials.
The “Ruby Superior” room, for example, is decorated in shades of ruby red, from the color on the walls to the plush, floor-length drapes, thick carpets, the leather-upholstered headboard and the inviting velvet armchair. For a distinctive contrast, the room furnishings are crafted from materials like walnut and brass.
