Distinctive Innovation Environment with Attractive Design at DTU
In Lyngby, north of Copenhagen, Technical University of Denmark has opened the doors to DTU Skylab – an impressive innovation and learning environment where students, researchers and businesses across fields and areas of expertise can meet to exchange knowledge and develop visionary new solutions.
DTU Skylab is located on the university campus in a 5,500-square-meter building that includes laboratories, workshops, classrooms, project rooms, a large auditorium, lounge areas and a cafeteria. The design concept was developed by architecture firm Mtre, and HOLMRIS B8 has supplied and installed all furniture.
Contrasting Elements Intersect
New and old. Glass and concrete. Steel and leather. High, low, soft. The design of DTU Skylab is marked by striking contrasts, forming attractive environments for new ideas.
In the large lobby, where window sections are combined with raw concrete, visitors encounter the beautiful conference table in light wood from Nikari, accompanied by Odette barstools in leather and steel from Massproductions.
A number of smaller project and meeting rooms offer the opportunity to exchange ideas at high tables, as well as in low and soft environments that feature the low Aperi sofa from Lammhults, Funk conference table from Lammhults and KEVi Air chairs from Engelbrechts.
New and old combine in the large central meeting room with beautiful wooden walls and the reuse of classic Y chairs alongside the ultra-modern Attach table from Lammhults. And there is also room for relaxation and a lounge atmosphere in the café area, where the leather sofa from Johanson Design is complemented by tables from Massproductions and chairs from Verpan.
