Boutique hotel rich in tradition
The family-owned Hotel Jutlandia, with 101 rooms, is situated in the heart of the northern Jutland port town of Frederikshavn and serves as a meeting place for locals as well as hotel guests from Denmark and abroad. To enhance the hotel’s home-like atmosphere and give the proud hotel a contemporary brush-up, Hotel Jutlandia has undergone significant renovations.
HOLMRIS B8 has supplied furniture and fittings for the lobby, restaurant, meeting facilities, and two of the hotel’s suits in collaboration with Copenhagen design studio All That Matters.
The focus was on creating a cosy and unique boutique hotel atmosphere à la New York and Paris – a place where both hotel guests and community locals can feel at home meeting over dinner, a cup of coffee or a drink in the common areas.
Unique surroundings warmly welcome guests
In the hotel’s central lobby, the oblong and somewhat impersonal entrance hall has been transformed into three intimate yet contemporary living rooms. The spaces are filled with carpets, warm colours, greenery, bookcases and Danish design, with references to the hotel’s 1960s origins.
Guests can explore design from Fredericia Furniture, Stellarworks, Gubi, and Poul Henningsen, while HOLMRIS B8 has designed the wooden bookcase and the distinctive reception desk in black marble with brass sheets placed in different angles especially for the lobby space. No two furniture pieces are alike, but together they give the location its unique home-like atmosphere.
In the two well-appointed suites, the homey feel continues with a combination of daring colors, furniture classics, fine prints, collage art and a specially designed, hand-crafted cabinet from HOLMRIS B8.
Camilla Frost, owner of Hotel Jutlandia, says:
“We have successfully created something unique that also has broad appeal. Our guests praise the interior décor, saying that they have never experienced anything like it elsewhere. They find it inspiring to see so many different pieces of furniture gathered in one place, and enjoy finding their own favourite little spot where they feel at home.”
