Homely atmosphere
Hulgaard Advokater wished to bring the interior design of their offices in Aarhus into play as a strategic implement. The law firm wanted to attract and retain clients and employees, interested to see it as both innovative and professional. The lobby is designed as a welcoming area rather than as a reception area. Most floor space is dedicated to a variety of different work purposes, says Managing Partner, Øjvind Hulgaard.
The interior design at the law firm had to both express closeness to clients and foster bonds between employees. This was achieved by establishing a homely atmosphere at the office. Hulgaard Advokater relocated from large premises in central Aarhus to its current location at Marselisborg marina. The HOLMRIS B8 service team took care of relocation including project management, and supplied new, fully-equipped offices. We read newspapers in a sofa with a view of the marina. In place of a canteen, we eat lunch and chat over a cup of coffee in a zone that has high tables and stools. We also hold events for clients here, says Øjvind Hulgaard.
Law firm with a difference
The interior design at Hulgaard Advokater is very different from what most would expect to see at a Danish law firm: Arne Jacobsen and PH are noticeable by their absence. The law firm made a conscious decision to drop the icons of conventional Danish furniture design. Instead, they chose furniture with focus on sustainability and solid craftsmanship to create a cool, relaxed Nordic look, which matches Hulgaard Advokater’s approach to business – and makes guests and employees feel at home.
We made a conscious decision to avoid the conventional icons of Danish furniture design. We’re not like other law firms – and this had to be reflected in our office design, says Managing Partner, Øjvind Hulgaard.
