A tailored office with Nordic elegance and flexibility
Marsh McLennan’s new office, located in Copenhagen, has been developed through close collaboration. The design merges the company’s vision of a Nordic and lighter style with the unique character of the location. The office is thoughtfully designed to respect the building’s colors, materials, and architectural style, ensuring a harmonious integration.
To achieve the best results, a close partnership was formed with an ambassador group from the company. This process aimed to understand employees’ workflows and their vision for the future office. The solution is an activity-based design that offers flexibility and supports various work zones, such as break-out areas, focus rooms, and social gathering spaces.
Materials that create an atmosphere
Material selection played a key role in the project. Only wool textiles were used for the furniture, contributing a tactile and aesthetic depth that complements the building’s cool architectural features. The colors were carefully chosen to create a harmonious composition without excessive contrast, while curtains in the meeting rooms add warmth, depth, and dynamism.
Lighting was also prioritized to create the right atmosphere. The warm glow of the pendant lamps softens the room’s concrete surfaces and visible installations, fostering a calm and inviting ambiance.
Optimization and focus on reuse
A significant aspect of the design process was the thoughtful reuse of existing elements. The previous office chairs were meticulously cleaned and inspected, with worn or damaged parts repaired to give them new life and extend their lifespan. Additionally, the large, old desks were replaced with new 140 cm linoleum desks. This solution provided the desired number of workstations without compromising on aesthetics or functionality.
