Event-packed destination with a sprinkling of stardust
Scandic has opened another hotel in Copenhagen, for the second time in the space of just 12 months. The ribbon was cut to mark the opening of Scandic Kødbyen in fall 2018, and the fully renovated Scandic Falkoner Hotel opened its doors in August 2019.
HOLMRIS B8 had the pleasure of working closely with the Scandic chain and Koncept Arkitekter from Stockholm on both projects, and this time helped develop an exciting, event-packed hotel for both its guests and the local community.
The open-door hotel
The hotel chain’s ambition with Scandic Falkoner was to create a destination. As much for the locals as for the guests staying at the hotel. The hotel’s café and restaurant look out onto Falkoner Allé and are designed to encourage passers-by to visit the hotel’s public areas.
Visitors are invited to explore a universe with a ‘backstage meets stardust’ theme, referring to the building’s history which revolves around showbiz and the entertainment it offers in its legendary concert hall, Falkoner Salen.
Showcasing Danish design in warm, dark tones and with atmospheric references to movies and theatre, such as masks, old movie posters and cinema billboards, the new Scandic Falkoner provides more than merely a bed to sleep in.
High-level collaboration
HOLMRIS B8 worked with 73 other suppliers to furnish the 334 rooms, 12 meeting rooms, 350-seat restaurant, cocktail bar, café and two event rooms – the largest with room for almost 3,000 people.
Marianne Pedersen, Pre-opening Project Manager at Scandic, says:
‘Our cooperation with HOLMRIS B8 was fantastic. We’ve been working with them for many years now, so we consider HOLMRIS B8 an equal partner, and we help each other bring projects across the finish line. There’s never anything that can’t be done, so we know we’re in safe hands.’
