A beacon for educational institutions of the future
In Svendborg, the new SIMAC (Svendborg International Maritime Academy) has been launched, serving as a beacon for the educational institutions of the future. Moreover, it is Denmark’s largest maritime educational institution, where the architectural firm C. F. Møller together with EFFEKT has maximized openness and flexibility in the educational environment through architectural design.
HOLMRIS B8 has supplied all the furniture made from honest materials and produced and delivered all custom furniture. For example, the circular reception desk, made from Douglas fir, has a special feature with heated countertops. The top of the desk is finished in bronzed brass, which is also used at the base of all the tables on the ground floor. This is both to protect the furniture from water intrusion and to give them an exclusive look.
HOLMRIS B8 has also custom-made round lounge tables, high tables for the canteen, high-backed wooden sofas with upholstered seats and backs, and delivered custom-made cushions for the stair landings.
All in all, the emphasis has been on ensuring that the furniture and fixed fixtures are visually and functionally coherent, complementing the building’s openness and transparency.
